When to Visit Vienna
Climate : Austria enjoys a temperate climate. Winters are characterized
by rain in the valleys and snow in mountains. Summer is rarely oppressive

By Air : The Vienna Schwechat airport. Trains bound for the heart of
Vienna leave every half hour and are the most cost-effective way to cover the
19 kilometer distance into town. Bus and taxi services are also available. At
the airport, shopping carts can be used for free but luggage trolleys must be
paid for. They accept coins in eight currencies but not sterling or dollars.
Facilities at the airport include Raiffeisen and Erste banks in arrival, departure

By Trains : The Wolkersdorf railway station is the railhead

Anchor Clock (Ankeruhr) : Built between 1911 and 1917, the Anchor Clock
was constructed after the plans of the painter Franz von Matsch. It is situated
on the oldest square of Vienna and represents a typical Art Nouveau design.
Belvedere
Palace : The two magnificient palaces on the Belvedere grounds are locatd
in the middle of a splendid park. The palaces were built for Prince Eugene of
Savoy by J.L. von Hildebrandt who was a renowned Baroque architect.
Burgtheater (National Theatre) : In 1741 Empress Maria Theresia handed
an unused dance-house over to the theatre-company Sellier whuch is now used
as a theatre.
Danube Tower : To enjoy a fantastic view over Vienna this is the right
place to go. It is also known as "Concrete needle" and is 352 meters
high and was built within 20 months!
Haas House : Haas House is one of the most sensational buildings in
Vienna and the city's dignity. Images of St. Stephen's Cathedral reflected
by the straight glass facade of Haas House are a popular figure.

Salzburg
Salzburg in Austria is a city rich in tradition, history and culture with

By Air : Salzburg has an international airport. Airport Code: SZG. Salzburg
Airport has its own exit from the motorway. This is situated at the centre of
the motorway i intersection heading north-south (D, I) and east-west (H, CZ,
D, CH). The airport is located around 2 km from the German border and 4 km from
the city centre.
By Train : Salzburg railway station ("Hauptbahnhof") is very
close to the the Salzburg Airport and a regular bus service ensures an easy
transit between the airport and the railway station.
Getting Around
By Road : Buses, taxis and bicycles are the ways to move around in
the city.

there is a direct connection from London Gatwick three times a week.
By Trains : Innsbruck railway station has good Intercity and Eurocity
connections to Zurich (3.5 h), Munich (2 h), Vienna (5 h) or Bolzano (2 h).
The main railway station is located close to the downtown area (15 min walk
to Congress Innsbruck).
Getting Around
By Road : A network of 3 tram and 25 bus lines covers all of Innsbruck
and its close environs, and buses and trams use the same tickets. Single tickets
in the central area cost 1.50€, and a booklet of four tickets goes for
3.20€. The tram is called either Strassenbahn or Trambahn. Bus and taxi
is also available in the city.

Major Tourist attractions
Triumphal Arch : It separates the main street into Marie-Theresien-Strasse
to the north and Leopoldstrasse to the south. Contruction is based on Roman
arches and it commemorates the wedding of the Duke of Tuscany and also serves
as a memorial to the Emperor Francis.
Saint Annas Column : this column was build toerected to salute
the withdrawal of Bavarian forces during the war of Spanish Succession in
1703. Notably it is surmounted by a statue of the Virgin Mary and incorporates
several sculptures of Christian figures closer to the base.
Swarovski Kristallwelten : a wonderland of crystal works of art, the
Swarovski Crystal World presents displays and works by artists past and present.
Tiroler Volkskunstmuseum : contained within a historic abbey, this
museum is dedicated to the popular arts and crafts of the local people of
Tyrol and with displays costume, furniture and religious items.
Dom zu St. Jakob : this cathedral presents roof of domes and was built
and decorated in the ornate style. The walls and ceilings are lined with striking
frescoes while the altar overwhelmes with gilt .
