» MOUNT ABU
Rajasthan conjures up an image of an arid desert land but the state has one
of the best hill resorts in India. The hill station of Mount Abu, is located
atop a 1,220 meter high plateau in the Aravalli hills and though it can be visited
any time of the year, the best time many say is in the autumn months. Mount
Abu, which according to a legend gets its name from Arbuda, a serpent who had
saved Lord Shiva's bull, Nandi's life, has many tourist attractions that you
can visit while you spend your holidays in the hill station. For instance, you
can visit the Nakki Lake, which is an artificial lake, popular for boating.

meditation classes daily, Adhar devi temple, built inside a natural cleft
in the rock, Doodh Baori, close to the Brahma Kumari University and Guru Shikhar,
which is the highest peak of the Aravalli range.

capital of Jammu and Kashmir and the largest city in the state, Srinagar (1,730m)
is famous for its canals, houseboats and Mughal gardens . The city itself is
quite unlike most other large Indian cities for here you are much more in Central
Asia than on the sub continent. It's a city full of intriguing alleyways and
curious buildings. A place where it's very easy to spend a few hours simply
