Some of the awards received by both Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity
Cruises are:
- Celebrity cruises was the first cruise line to be awarded the coveted ISO
9002 award. Lloyds Register Quality Assurance presented Celebrity Cruises
with the ISO 9002 certification for quality management standard for all aspects
of the cruise lines operations. The certification comes shortly after
Celebrity attained ISO 14001 certification, covering environmental management,
and the Lloyd's Register Environmental Protection class notation (EP), for vessel
equipment and systems, which were both achieved during 2000.
- Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises were honored Friday by
the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce as recipients of the Chambers 2001
ENVIRONMENTAL BUSINESS PRACTICES AWARD.
- Royal Caribbean International ships received top rankings in Conde Nast Traveler
magazine and on the popular AOL cruise website, CruiseCritic.com. Ten vessels
were recognized for excellence in the areas of service, itineraries, entertainment
and activities, childrens programs, fitness and recreation programs, food
and value for price.
- The crew of Royal Caribbean Internationals Splendour of the Seas
were honored for their heroic efforts in rescuing 11 crew members of a sunken
cargo ship in stormy seas. The crew will receive the New York Council Navy Leagues
AMVER Award (Automated Mutual-Assistance Vessel Rescue System).
- Celebrity Cruises is the highest rated premium cruise line in the 1999 Berlitz
Complete Guide to Cruising and ranked among the top three cruise lines in Travel
& Leisure's 1998 Critic's Choice poll.
