GENERAL INFORMATIONS

VISA
All foreign tourists visiting India must be in possession of valid Passport and Visa.
An Indian Visa is readily available from your nearest Indian Consulate. In countries where there is no Indian Diplomatic mission, normally the British Consulate will issue the Visa. Please ensure that you obtain the MULTIPLE ENTRY TOURIST VISA since this simplifies the procedure for visiting neighbouring countries like Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Indians holding foreign citizenship and foreign passports would also have to obtain Visa before entering India.

TRANSIT VISA
The Government has introduced the facility of providing Transit Visa for a maximum period of 72 hours for those passengers transitting through India and holding a confirmed booking for the onward travel.

CUSTOMS
Indian Customs are courteous to people with Tourist Visa/Card and though the rules and regulations may vary from time to time, generally the free allowance includes all your personal belongings.

CURRENCY
There is no restriction on import of foreign currency into India provided it is declared at the time of entry. The amount declared on entry can be taken out. Import and export of Indian currency is illegal.

HEALTH
Yellow fever certificate is required from persons arriving from epidemic areas.

LIQUOR PERMIT
All India Liquor permits are issued by the Indian Visa issuing authorities and the Government of India Tourist Offices. We strongly recommend that while obtaining Visas, please also obtain All India Liquor Permits before arriving into India. This permit will enable you to buy alcoholic drinks in the dry states in India such as Gujarat.

SPECIAL PERMIT
Tourists visiting restricted areas in India like Sikkim, Laccadives and certain parts of Assam etc will require special entry permits from the Government of India.
Special permits are also required from the Government of India and Bhutan mission for visiting Bhutan.
Applications for such permits should be sent to us at least 6 to 8 weeks before the arrival so that we can approach the authorities for processing and issuing such permits.

CLOTHINGS
Woollens are required while visiting the Northern and Eastern parts of India during the winter months i.e. OCT to FEB. Tropicals and cottons will be sufficient throughout the year for rest of India.
